Girls That Rock Mentorship

(6th Grade & High School Seniors)

In this program, 6th grade girls receive mentoring from high school seniors in the area. The mentoring hour will be spent engaging with the 6th grade mentee’s under the supervision of the program director. Mentors will begin executing team building or goal setting activities and private discussion among groups until dismissal.

 Girls will arrive and spend the initial hour interacting with leadership to prepare for the lesson of the day. Preparing for a lesson includes:

  • Setting up necessary objects (snacks, tables, chairs, speakers, game props. etc.) to maintain a successful session.

  • Discussing the goal of the week and group talking points

  • Discussing appointed positions for each activity for the day

  • Practicing the team building exercise for the week to properly direct it to the 6th graders during that following hour.

Mentors will also spend a portion of the hour reviewing group interactions from the week before.

 

The final hour will be spent engaging with the 6th grade girls. Executing team building and goal setting activities, private discussion among groups and dismissal at 5:00pm
